What is a ban?

Alphas and Luke Wolf® Staff may discipline wolves that break The Den Rules by banning them. Bans prevent a wolf from being able to access The Wolf Den, so if you receive a ban you will not be able to log in or see chat.

What is the difference between a timeout and a ban?

Bans are not like timeouts. Timeouts allow you to have access to the platform but they will not allow you to post any messages for a temporary and short period of time. Bans prevent you from accessing that particular platform at all and are generally more long term punishments. Bans may also be issued globally, meaning you might be banned from all areas of the den instead of just one of them.

Help! I don't understand why I'm banned!

If you have broken The Den Rules, then an Alpha may have decided to ban you for what you have done. Alphas never ban for no reason, so you should always see a reason displayed, telling you why you are banned. You should think about what you have done to break The Den Rules – did you do anything untoward? Self reflection is key to understanding why you are banned.

If you do not see a ban reason, then we invite you to appeal it. If you cannot submit an appeal directly through the ban itself, then please contact Luke Wolf® Pack Support here.

Why didn't I receive a warning before getting banned?

You would have had to have done something very severe to get a ban on the spot like that. Alphas do not have to warn first before issuing a ban when it comes to severe bad behaviour.

How long do bans last for?

Most bans are long-term. This means they are either indefinite or permanent.

If you got banned from the den forum, this can be different – the den forum has a specific disciplining system than the rest of the den, so it will always tell you that your ban will expire some time in the near future, ranging from 24 hours to a full month before you get banned indefinitely or permanently. If the ban is temporary the length should always be added into the reason so you understand how long to wait for.

What is the difference between an indefinite ban and a permanent ban?

Indefinite bans do not state how long your ban lasts for. Luke Wolf® Staff may decide to unban you at some stage, but don’t count on it happening automatically. You will need to appeal it to find out how to get unbanned.

Permanent bans will state that you are permanently banned and you will never be unbanned regardless how much time elapses. You may appeal the ban but unless it is a mistake (this is very rarely the case because our Alphas are fully trained moderators), you will not be unbanned.

I got banned from one area of the den so does this mean I'm banned everywhere else too?

This depends on why you got banned – if your ban is due to severely breaking The Den Rules, then all known accounts of yours may be banned across all areas. However, if it is not as serious, you may only be banned from one area of the den.

I don't agree with my ban, so... can I get unbanned please? 🙂

Luke Wolf® policy on disagreements or challenges to a ban is that the opportunity to appeal a ban should always be made available to all wolves. We believe in a fair ban appeal process, even if you think it’s personal. This is the mindset we have to ensure you get a fair go and we do believe that people can learn from their mistakes, even if they were serious ones.

To get unbanned you typically need to do something to resolve yourself from why you got banned in the first place. To find out more about how you can get unbanned, you should submit an appeal so Luke Wolf® Staff understand that first – you want to get unbanned and second – hearing your case as to why you should be unbanned even if the ban is considered fair under The Den Rules (which in most cases it is).

It is possible that you can get a second chance, a third or even a fourth. We do not have a limit as to how many chances to give out but this is considered under a case by case basis. You should know that if you have been banned before it will be increasingly more difficult to get unbanned if you get banned again in the future.

How do I appeal a ban?

Regardless of the ban, you are always able to appeal it. On Twitch you can submit a ban appeal by clicking the “Request Unban” button in the chat. On Discord you can submit a ban appeal through the “Appeal” button on the ban message the Dyno bot sends you or contact Luke Wolf® Pack Support here. However you should read on before doing that…

What should I do when I am appealing a ban?

There are a few things you need to make sure of when you are appealing a ban:

1) Calm down first: We do not unban anyone that is lashing out at us with abuse, threats or any other behaviour that is driven by simple frustration. Your appeal will be declined immediately and you will be asked to calm down first before trying again. This is why on the Twitch platform there is a cool down before requesting an unban. The more you do this, the less chance you have at getting unbanned at all, and if you are only banned temporarily or in only one area of the den, you may get banned longer or your ban will be extended to the rest of the den, so please calm down before submitting an appeal. It’s for your own good.

2) Be honest: If you know you actually did do something to get banned, don’t deny your actions. Instead, you should accept them and own up. This is what will help your case. However, if you attempt to trick Luke Wolf® Staff into unbanning you, you will not be unbanned, and if you do get unbanned and we find out later that you were tricking us into unbanning you, your ban will be reinstated and it will be a lot harder to get unbanned again (you may never get unbanned).

3) Be logical: You should always give us as many logical reasons as possible as to why you should be unbanned. Not emotional ones.

How are ban appeals processed?

Ban appeals go before Luke Wolf® Studio Owners. The owners will look at checking and doing the following things to handle the appeal:

1) Who issued the ban? – Was it an Alpha Wolf or a Luke Wolf® Staff member? And if it was a staff member, was it an owner? Who banned can change how the ban appeal is processed because of the authority behind the ban, but don’t worry – if an owner was the one that banned you, you will still get treated fairly and this process will continue.
2) Is the ban fair? – If the fairness of the ban is in question, we review any available evidence supporting the reason you got banned. We will look at what you have been saying and doing everywhere in the den (or if the ban applies because of something you did outside of the den, we will look at that). If the evidence shows that you have broken The Den Rules then the ban will be considered fair. If there is no evidence recorded, we will use alternative methods to find out what happened. This usually means we speak with the Alpha Wolf that banned you. Evidence may not have been recorded if the offense took place in a voice chat, behaviour conducted outside the den or if the ban was issued by a Luke Wolf® Studio Owner. After an investigation, one of two outcomes will be determined:

  • The ban is unfair: if your ban is considered unfair, the ban appeal process will stop here, the ban will be lifted and a note will be placed on your record stating that the ban is unfair and to be ignored.
  • The ban is fair: if the ban was considered fair, then we will discuss with you what you did to get banned and what rule was broken.

3) Do you want to challenge a fair ban? – You may offer, or even be offered, to challenge the ban even though it is considered fair. This is done on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of a Luke Wolf® Studio Owner.
4) Resolving a fair ban – If the challenge is approved, Pack Support will send you a Pardoning Agreement. This will be an email outlining what you need to do to get unbanned. Once you have followed the instructions in the agreement, your ban will be lifted and a note will be placed on your record.

What is included in a Pardoning Agreement?

A Pardoning Agreement will only include one of these things:

  • Nothing – you may not have to do anything in particular. Maybe just appealing the ban, and your conduct during that process, was the only thing you needed to do. However, you will be warned not to break The Den Rules again.
  • Read The Den Rules – maybe it seems you broke the rules unknowingly or you know the rules but do not show respect for them. In either of these cases you will be asked to read The Den Rules and reply confirming you have read them, understood them and promise never to break them again.
  • Accept personalised terms – specifics will be outlined for you to read, understand and reply in agreeance to before you get unbanned. Usually personalised terms are explained for bans involving complicated moral issues.
  • A good deed – you will need to resolve yourself through good actions. You may have to post or create something positive that the den can benefit from and to prove that you have learned from your mistakes.

Can an Alpha unban me?

No, Alphas are not able to lift any bans, even the ones they issue themselves. If you have been banned, you need to submit an appeal on the ban message it self or contact Luke Wolf® Pack Support here.

Can I bribe you to get my ban appeal accepted?

No! 🤦🏻‍♂️– Not only is this illegal but your appeal will be immediately rejected. The ban appeals process is a strictly moral one, always about good behaviour and whether you have learned your lesson. We will never accept bribes to unban anyone.
